Beginner's Russian (Olga Kagan, Anna Kudyma, and Frank Miller)
Students will participate in the first-year Russian program at the University of Pittsburgh's Slavic, East European, and Near Eastern Summer Language Institute (SLI). The program includes daily language classes plus weekly films, lectures, singing and cooking classes, and cultural picnics. There are no prerequisites for this beginning-level course. It is expected that students will reach an oral proficiency level of ILR 0+ or 1 by the end of the course. Students may choose to live on campus in dormitories arranged by the SLI, or off campus in apartments arranged on their own.
