Program Details: 

This intensive 16-unit hybrid (50/50 in-person/remote) program will help students develop novice and intermediate level skills in Persian-Farsi speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Through the use of authentic materials the students will be exposed to a wide variety of topics including academic and cultural knowledge. Prerequisites: Students applying should have no prior Persian-Farsi learning experience (school or heritage learner). 

All Project GO programs provide funding for:

  • Tuition/fees
  • Room and Board
  • Travel to/from study location
  • Books
  • Insurance
  • Visa

The following costs will not be included in Project GO Funding: personal spending money, personal travel, costs for obtaining a passport, medication, and expenses for dependents.

Please Note: Project GO participants planning to travel abroad MUST have a valid U.S. passport in their possession no later than 90 days before anticipated travel date. Many destinations require student visas, which take additional processing time. For further information, visit our FAQs.

Additional Details: 

The SDSU Project GO 2021 program will be a 50/50 hybrid format.  May 25 - June 30 at SDSU, July 5 - August 6 Online. 

Project GO at SDSU pays for: Tuition, course materials, travel to/from San Diego, room and board for all ROTC Students.

Please note that the room and board support is not intended to be comprehensive of all living costs a program participant may incur. The scholarship provides a meal plan and shared double occupancy suites on campus. Any purchases a student wants to make outside of this will be the responsibility of the students. All participants are required to live in double occupancy suites on SDSU's campus. San Diego residents living around campus or within a driving distance of less than 10 miles are exempt.

Students accepted to the program are responsible for the following refundable security deposit: $300 program security deposit (to hold your spot once accepted) - Refund at the end of the program upon successful completion.

Students applying should have no prior Persian-Farsi learning experience (school or heritage learner). Students with prior experience in Persian-Farsi are encouraged to apply for a Project GO advanced program or a different SDSU language program in which they have no prior learning experience. Please contact the SDSU Project GO Coordinator if you have any questions or concerns. 

Note: The proposed hybrid domestic program format of 50/50 in-person/remote is subject to change depending on potential travel and university restrictions as summer 2021 approaches.  The alternative program plan would be a fully online format.  We will keep LARC and Project GO websites and applicants updated with any changes.

SDSU LARC summer intensive course offerings cover the equivalent of 4 semesters of coursework, or 16 units covered from May 26 through August 6 consecutively and students must be able to dedicate the entire summer to the program.
