Can I study other languages through Project GO?

Yes, Project GO offers ROTC students support for the study of any of 18 languages at 24 universities across the country. See www.rotcprojectgo.org.

How can I fit Swahili study or the Summer in Kenya into my undergraduate career?

If you are working toward a BA degree, Swahili will count for the language requirement; if you are working toward a BS or other degree that prohibits free choice of electives, you may apply for a Summer Intensive Swahili study scholarship. The Summer in Kenya may be taken any summer after 2 semesters of Swahili.

Can I join the Summer in Kenya program before I study Swahili?

To be eligible for the Nenda full scholarship for JMU Summer in Kenya, an ROTC student must take 2 semesters/6 credits of Swahili.

How long is the Summer in Kenya program?

6 weeks and 9 credits of travel and study, and an optional additional month of internship for up to 6 credit hours.

What good will it do me to know Swahili?

It will broaden & increase career opportunities and improve understanding of self and others.
